But during the last two to three days, intensity of rain increased over Kerala, few heavy to very heavy spells also occurred over the state.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Thiruvananthapuram recorded 66 mm of rain, followed by Karipur 45 mm, Kochi 34 mm, Mahabaleshwar 18 mm, Kannur 17 mm, Punalur and Kozhikode 16 mm, Honnavar 14 mm, Alappuzha 11 mm, Kanyakumari 3 mm, Mangalore and Mumbai 2 mm.
These good rains over Kerala, were due to the formation of a trough that was extending from North Kerala to Interior Tamil Nadu.
Further, as this trough is fading away, therefore, we expect rains to once again reduce over Kerala, but weather will not become absolutely dry, scattered rains will continue over Coastal Karnataka and Kerala, as well as over South Konkan & Goa.
Mumbai and adjoining districts will receive isolated light rains only for the next 4-5 days. Rains are expected to revive over Mumbai and adjoining districts around August 8 and August 9. Till then Monsoon will remain subdued over Konak & Goa.
