The last few days have been seeing very good rains as far as Kolkata is concerned. Rainfall activities have remained between light to moderate with the city observing good Monsoon conditions. In fact, heavy showers have been observed over the city of Kolkata during the last 24 hours or so.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Alipore observatory in Kolkata has recorded a whopping 43.8 mm of rainfall.
Now, a low pressure area is expected to form soon over North Odisha and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal. Therefore, we expected rains to increase over Gangetic West Bengal including the city of Kolkata.
The state capital is expected to see light to moderate rains. In fact, heavy showers over some parts of the city also cannot be ruled out.
Due to these rains, temperatures will also witness a decrease and may settle slightly below the normal levels.
As the weather system is expected to move inland in a westerly direction. Thus, rain intensity will reduce over Kolkata once again. However, due to moisture incursion from Bay of Bengal, on and off rains will continue.
