Scattered light to moderate rains with dust storm activity occurred over many parts of Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Rajasthan in the last 24 hours. Delhi on the other hand remained dry with partly cloudy sky conditions.
Now, isolated dust storm and thundershowers are expected over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, weather will once again become completely dry over the Northwestern Plains.
Thus after 24 hours, due to dry weather in these areas, there is a possibility that temperatures will increase and heat wave like conditions may see an increase.
Southwest Monsoon is expected to get delayed over Delhi and the NCR region. Moreover, weather will remain dry over entire Northwest India until the end of June. We expect rains to commence over Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan along with parts of Delhi and the NCR region again around July 1 only.
Thereafter, intensity may increase gradually and light to moderate rains and thundershowers are expected over parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab along with isolated pockets of Delhi and the NCR region.
These rains will pace way for Monsoon arrival over these areas but a significant increase in these rains is not foreseen in the first week of July also. There may be pleasant weather conditions due to the continuous easterly flow of winds and Pre Monsoon activities during the first week of July.
