At present, south-southwesterly winds are strengthening in Northeast India. A Cyclonic Circulation persists over Assam. Due to this, rainfall activity is likely to increase gradually in most parts of Northeast India.
During the last 24 hours, we have observed moderate rainfall in southern parts of Northeast India. One or two places also received heavy rains. Significant rainfall was received by a few places like Landing which recorded 37mm, Lengding received 26 mm, Silchar 90 mm, Imphal 7mm and Aizawl recorded 26 mm of rain.
States like Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram will receive moderate rainfall activities during the next 24 hours with isolated heavy rains at few places.
These rains will enhance gradually from June 3. The activity will continue over the area up to June 5.
The situation may deteriorate due to heavy downpour and flood-like conditions may develop in parts like Tripura and Mizoram.
Assam will continue to receive light to moderate rain in parts during the next few days. Mostly western and southern parts will receive good rainfall.
Light rainfall is likely over East and adjoining Central India. Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh will also receive light to moderate rainfall during the next few days.
