Currently, Saurashtra and Kutch with 130% rainfall is most rain surplus meteorological division in the country. Gujarat region has also received good rain and it is surplus by 14% as of August 30.
Since the beginning of August, Gujarat have been receiving moderate to heavy showers with short breaks in between. One after another low-pressure area developed over the Bay of Bengal and moved in the westerly direction across Central India enhancing the monsoon surge over the west coast including Gujarat. Moreover, a cyclonic circulation also persisted for a prolonged duration over Gujarat with slight oscillation to south Pakistan and South West Rajasthan.
During the last 2 to 3 days, moderate to heavy showers are going on over the state. During the last 24 hours, Rajkot recorded 190 mm, Bulsar 125 mm, Kandla 93 mm, Veraval 78 mm, and Vadodara 67 mm of rain. Many other districts of Gujarat have also witnessed moderate to heavy showers.
Now the low-pressure area has moved over Rajasthan and the monsoon surge has also weekend. Therefore, we do not expect much rain activities over Gujarat from tomorrow. This may be the last heavy spell over Gujarat for this season. Now we expect the weather of Gujarat to go almost dry for the next week or so.
