Gujarat has been witnessing light showers from the past few days. As per Skymet Weather, good rains occurred over the state in the past day as well. These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which was persisting over North Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining South Gujarat.

Mainly, moderate to heavy rains occurred over many parts of East Gujarat. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday, Mahuva recorded heavy rain of 63 mm, Vallabh Vidyanagar 40 mm and Deesa 31 mm of rain. In the same span of time, Amreli recorded 15 mm of rain and Bhavnagar 12 mm of moderate intensity rains.
Meanwhile,Suratrecorded 8 mm of light rain, Valsad 3 mm andAhmedabad2 mm of rain. It is anticipated by Skymet Weather that this weather system will persist over South Gujarat for the next 24 hours and will gradually move in the west direction towards North West Arabian sea. For the next 24 to 48 hours we expect heavy to very rains over many parts of the state.

The intensity of the Monsoon showers will be much more over Southern parts of Gujarat. Places like Valsad, Surat,Baroda, Narmada, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Junagarh,Rajkot, Ahmedabad, and Jamnagar may receive heavy rains which may lead to water logging and flooding in some areas. By August 30 rain intensity will reduce and weather will start improving however scattered light rains will continue over the state.
