Scorching summer heat grips Ahmedabad, Indore; no relief soon

While Southwest Monsoon has finally made an onset over parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the central parts of the country continue to witness hot weather conditions. In fact, the scorching summer heat has gripped several cities of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh leaving residents to crave for some rains.

Cities like Ahmedabad and Indore are observing above normal maximums. Currently, the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad is settling at a whopping 42.7 degrees which happens to be a notch above the normal levels. The minimum temperature is also above normal by about a degree.

Same goes for Indore, while the minimum at 42.7 degrees is two notches above the normal levels, the minimum temperature is also a few degrees above normal at 26.2 degrees.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the inflow of hot and dry southwesterly winds from the Rajasthan and Sindh region. Due to this, days have come to be scorching hot over these areas. Some areas of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts are also reeling under heatwave conditions.

While both the temperatures in Ahmedabad and Gujarat are not way above the normal levels, the feel like temperature is way above. The reason for this is clear sky conditions, absence of any weather systems in proximity of these areas and bright sunshine prevailing all day long.

As per weathermen at Skymet, these weather conditions will continue to persist over these areas resulting in the hot weather conditions to stay.
