According to our meteorologists, violent dust storm needs to be blamed for the incident. The district was experiencing strong gusty winds to the tune of 90 kmph, when the incident took place. Moreover, rains made the situation even worse. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Barmer has recorded 17-18 mm of rainfall. These activities were a result of a Cyclonic Circulation, which was supplying moisture from the Arabian Sea. Moreover, high temperatures, above 40 degree mark made the conditions favourable for triggering dust storm and rains.
Forecast: Due to overnight rains and increased cloud cover, the temperatures are expected to drop to some extent in Barmer. However, rain and thundershower stand a chance today as well. However, dust storm activities would remain on the lower side and the chances of strong winds are ruled out.
