Pre-Monsoon hardly made any appearance over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The weather across both these states has mostly remained dry with a few rainy occasions. Thus, due to the prolonged dry spell, temperatures were seen rising and heatwave conditions were also witnessed by few pockets of Madhya Pradesh.

However, during the last 24 hours scattered light rains occurred over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh and light to moderate rains were seen over many parts of Chhattisgarh.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Ambikapur recorded 2 mm of rain, Bilaspur 3.2 mm, Durg 1.4 mm, Pendra 1.9 mm, Raipur 2.2 mm.
Weather over West Madhya Pradesh was dry and hot. Isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh are still witnessing heatwave conditions.
Places like Nowgaon, Khajuraho, Damoh, Sagar, Rajgarh, Datia have been witnessing heatwave type conditions since many days.
Yesterday, the maximum temperatures recorded over few places of Madhya Pradesh was above 40 degrees: Betul 42.4, Bhopal 42.8, Guna 43.5, Gwalior 44.5, Indore 41.5, Jabalpur 43.1.
Further, as the westerly/northwesterly winds from Rajasthan and Sindh region will continue, we expect heatwave conditions to continue over many parts of West Madhya Pradesh in the coming days.
However, temperatures over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh may drop due to the commencing humid winds from south and southwest direction.
Chhattisgarh may also witness light to moderate rains during the next 24-48 hours. Along with this light rain may also occur over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh.
Weather of northern and western parts of Madhya Pradesh will be dry and hot. We do not expect any significant in the western parts during the coming days.
