In the past 24 hours, parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed light to moderate rains at many places, while isolated spells were observed in Andhra Pradesh. For instance, Madurai in Tamil Nadu observed 17.3 mm of rains while Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh recorded 1 mm of rain.
At present, a Cyclonic Circulation has formed over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas. A trough is seen extending from Vidarbha to Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema. Thus, rainfall activity is likely to intensify over the interior parts of Tamil Nadu. Districts like Salem, Tiruchirapalli, Vellore, Coimbatore, Ooty, and Dharmapuri are expected to witness moderate rainfall at many places during the next 24 hours. Similarly, Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur, Kurnool, Vijayawada, Cuddapah, Nellore, Tirupati, and Ongole would also be witnessing light to moderate rains with strong winds. Whereas, isolated activities will be a sight in the northern and coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.
Temperatures along the coast which have crossed the mark of 40°C might drop marginally over Kakinada and Vijayawada. While Chennai and Puducherry would be reeling under hot and humid weather conditions. However, isolated activities can be a sight in Kanyakumari and Karaikal.
