Vaishno Devi has been witnessing dry and clear weather for the last many days. However, light rain and snow were observed in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir recently, but Vaishno Devi, Katra, and Jammu did not see rain or snow for almost a week.
Meanwhile, a fresh Western Disturbance has been affecting Jammu and Kashmir region since last night. In the wake of this, rain and snow activities began showing up in the upper areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per Skymet weather, this fresh weather system is more active as compared with the previous several weather systems. Hence, more rain or snow is expected to be recorded in Vaishno Devi Bhawan and surrounding areas in the next 24 to 48 hours.

In fact, clouding has already increased since last evening. Because these rain and snow episodes, Vaishno Devi and surrounding areas are likely to witness a fall in the day temperature. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature may scale up marginally.

Given the snowfall and the possibility of rain, it is feared that devotees may face disruptions in walking. Such a weather scenario is likely to continue until February 1 hence, devotees are advised to stay cautious.
Meanwhile, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, which can create obstacles on the roads. According to the weather experts at Skymet Weather, cool and dry winds would start prevailing again from February 2 and 3, which can cause a significant drop in the night temperature.
