The northeastern states witnessed moderate to heavy rain and thundershower activities during the last 24 hours. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, Guwahati recorded heavy rain to the tune of 58 mm, followed by Silchar 17 mm, Chaparmukh 12 mm, Mazbat 8 mm, Shillong and Imphal 6 mm, Rangia 5 mm and Cherrapunji 4 mm.
At present, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Meghalaya and adjoining area. Along with this, the anti-cyclone persisting over northern parts of Bay of Bengal is continuously feeding moisture over the northeastern states.
Due to these weather systems, today we expect rain and thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds (wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph) and lightning at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
On April 17, thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds (wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph) will occur over Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
Weather Alert:Rain and thundershower with strong winds (40-60kmph) will affect at some places over Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong East, Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, N.C.Hills, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara-Mankachar, Tinsukia, East Garo Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, North Garo hills, Ribhoi, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills, West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills the districts of Assam and Meghalaya between April 16 to 17.
Thereafter, from April 18, rains will start vacating Northeast India. However, weather will not become almost dry as isolated rains will continue in parts of the northeastern states.
