During the last 24 hours, the variation of rainfall has been seen over different parts of Maharashtra. The Konkan coast has received light rainfall which was mainly over the southern parts while northern parts remained mostly dry. The day temperature has marginally increased over Konkan due to a change in the air mass.
Madhya Maharashtra experienced moderate rain and thundershower at many places with heavy showers at isolated places. Like Pune in the past 24 hours witnessed 43.8 mm of rainfall and is very likely to receive such spells for the coming three days as well. Whereas, the other parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha have experienced light rainfall and thundershowers at some places.
The warm and moist winds are continuously impacting most parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Madhya Maharashtra. The Cyclonic Circulation over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining parts of Marathwada would be moving slowly west northwestwards. Hence due to the movement of this system light to moderate rain and thundershowers would be affecting many places of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Madhya Maharashtra. Heavy showers would also affect some places of Madhya Maharashtra region. Pune, Mahabaleshwar, Kolhapur are very likely to witness spells of heavy showers during the next three days.
However, the Konkan coast will be receiving a light spell of rain and thundershowers. Due to the prevalence of northerly and northeasterly winds, the temperatures would be increasing over Mumbai and northwest parts of Maharashtra like Jalgaon, Nashik, Dahanu, etc.
The occurrence of rains over Marathwada will be helpful as they will help in replenishing groundwater level and in crop production.
