Rains in Andhra Pradesh

The entire Central India is currently rain deficient by 53%. Certain regions like Gujarat have not received a single spell of rain so far. Saurashtra & Kutch is the only region in Central India where rainfall has been recorded in excess. But this surplus does not hold fort as the average February rainfall of Saurashtra & Kutch is a paltry 0.2 mm, which can easily be surpassed by one good spell of rain.

Parts of Madhya Pradesh, particularly western and eastern parts of the state are largely rain deficient by 74% and 52%, respectively.

Now an induced cyclonic circulation has formed over the northwestern plains, which is likely to start giving light rains over western parts of Madhya Pradesh from the evening of February 13. On February 14, the intensity and spread of these rains will increase,

We also expect light scattered rains to commence over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh Feb 14 onwards. However, during this period, some northern districts of MP such as Gwalior, Datia and Tikamgarh will get moderate showers with chances of hailstorm activity.

On February 15, the weather systems will move eastwards pulling down the rains significantly over West Madhya Pradesh, while eastern districts such as Jabalpur, Umaria, Damoh, Siddhi and Satna will receive moderate spells of rain.

Talking about Chhattisgarh, the weather over the state is likely to remain dry for another 24 hours. However, scattered rains will commence over the region from February 15.

Meanwhile, another region of Central India i.e. Vidarbha in Maharashtra will also witness isolated light rains on February 14. And from February 15, few more stations of Vidarbha such as Nagpur, Gondia, Wasim, Wardha and Chandrapur will receive light rains. Weather of Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan & Goa will remain dry.

During this rainy spell over Central India, hailstorm may also occur over few parts of North Madhya Pradesh and North Chhattisgarh.

In the wake of these rains, night temperatures over most parts of Central India will remain above normal. Whereas, the maximums will drop by a few degrees.
