The state of Gujarat has seen good rain and thundershower activities during the last 24 hours. Surat received heavy rainfall, whereas Baroda, Rajkot, Bhuj, and Dwarka observed light to moderate rain and thundershowers.
According to Skymet Weather, good rains will continue over the Gujarat region, particularly, places like Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Surat, Valsad, Baroda, and Panchmahal will get to see good rain and thundershower activities for the next two days.
Meanwhile, the region of Saurashtra and Kutch will receive light to moderate rains. These activities are expected to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, the intensity will decrease, however, on and off rains will continue in many parts of Gujarat for another four to five days.
These rains would be the result of a Cyclonic Circulation over South Gujarat and adjoining North Maharashtra region. After 24-48 hours, this weather system will fade away, but due to moisture-laden winds (southwesterly winds) from the Arabian Sea, on and off rainfall activities would continue.
The state of Gujarat was reeling under the dry weather conditions in the recent past. And the residents were desperately waiting for the touch of good Monsoon showers. Moreover, in the absence of any significant rains, the crops grown in the state were majorly getting affected. All thanks to mother nature for finally giving ears to the prayers of the residents and blessing the state with the good Monsoon showers. Now, as the rains have returned to the state, the situation will improve from the agriculture point of view. These rains would be beneficial in soil moisture restoration.
Not only this, these showers will improve the rainfall statistics of the Saurashtra and Kutch region as well (both the regions have remained highly rain deficient so far).
