Since the beginning of May, the Northwestern Plains of India have been witnessing frequent dust storm, thunderstorm and thundershower activities.

However, these frequent pre-Monsoon activities have kept the day temperatures on the lower side and heatwave conditions also did not seem to appear in any part of Northwest India.

Talking about the capital city Delhi, yesterday, the Safdarjung observatory recorded its day temperature at 40.8°C and the Palam observatory recorded its maximum at 42.6°C. Ayanagar and Ridge also recorded their maximum temperatures at 41.8°C and 41.5°C respectively.

Now, there will be a break in the on-going pre-Monsoon activities for the next on week. Day temperatures are also expected to rise in the next few days. Maximum temperatures over Delhi will also increase and settle in mid-40s.

Heatwave conditions are also expected to develop over parts of North Rajasthan and South Haryana.

Weather is expected to become dry and sunny over the states of Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and many parts of Punjab.

Dry and hot northwesterly winds are expected to continue throughout the entire next week.

Furthermore, we can say that dry and hot weather is expected prevail over all the states of northwestern plains till May 28 or May 29. However, short spell of dust storm activity cannot be ruled during this period.
