Republic Day weather in the capital may not be as harsh as expected earlier. Rains may evade and the chill may not be fierce enough to act as deterrent. Light breeze will surely give the wintry touch, without any significant clouds casting shadow in the sky. Typical misty morning with shallow fog in patches to start the day and dispersing later to have a decent view of thrilling fly past.
Delhi-NCR area is likely to observe cloudy sky on 24th and 25th Jan. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in some areas commencing sometime today evening and lasting till tomorrow night. Rainy spells are likely to be intermittent and embedded with few thunderstorm cells, making lighting and sound.
Rains are expected to seize towards wee hours of 26th Jan and hold good, even post grand celebrations along 'Kartavya Path'. Scare of weather playing a spoilsport will take a backseat and unlikely to disturb the parade and the festivities, for the 5th time in a row on the Republic Day.
The coldest repulic day on record was 26th Jan 2021 with the minimum temperature dipping to 2.1degree, about 5degree below the normal. The highest minimum temperature of 13.6degree was recorded on 26th Jan 2017, closely followed on 26th Jan 2009 at 13.2degree.
On the 74th Republic Day, the minimum temperature is expected around 10-11 degree and the mercury may reach low 20's later in the afternoon. Weather conditions will take a twist again on 28th Jan with spells of sporadic rains, extending further on 29th Jan and start receding a day later.
