The temperature has been rising gradually over Delhi/NCR for the last three days. Base station Safdarjung recorded a maximum of 35.4°C, a rise of over 2°C since Tuesday, but it still remains nearly 4°C below normal. Further rise in temperature is expected, and it may reach close to normal on Sunday, 10th May 2026. Today, the day temperature will rise to about 36°-37°C. The average maximum temperature of Delhi for the first week of May 2026 is close to 35.5°C. May, as such, is the hottest month with a mean monthly temperature of 39.9°C. The month of June is a shade lower at 39°C.

Conditions had turned favourable for thunderstorm activity late last night over Delhi/NCR. With thunderclouds around, a caution was issued by both Palam and Safdarjung for strong winds, rain, and thundershowers between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. However, the stormy conditions fizzled out without any severe weather activity. The cyclonic circulation, earlier marked over Central Rajasthan, has now shifted to Haryana and the Delhi region. Strong winds will accompany the dissipation of tall clouds, but the chances of precipitation over Delhi and the suburbs are minimal.

From tomorrow onwards, the weather conditions will remain sunny and breezy. The temperature will continue to rise for the next four days till Sunday, 10th May 2026. The maximum temperature may reach 40°C (+/- 1°C). A fresh western disturbance will arrive a little late on 10th May and will be accompanied by a cyclonic circulation. The trough line will once again shift in the vicinity of Delhi. Another bout of thunderstorm, dust storm, and rain is expected between 11th and 13th May 2026. The temperatures will drop yet again during next week.
