The cyclonic circulation is extending beyond mid-tropospheric levels, tilting southward with height. The low pressure is located very close to the coastline and is likely to move inland across South and Central Odisha. The system will traverse westward, crossing the complete stretch of Madhya Pradesh, and reach the outskirts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and North Madhya Maharashtra over the next five days.

The state of Odisha will have heavy to very heavy rains today and tomorrow. The other states sharing a border with Odisha, like West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and peripheral parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, will also have moderate to heavy showers during this period. As the system moves to South Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh in the next about 72 hours, heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Madhya Pradesh between 12-14 September 2026. In the last leg of the system, scattered rains will lash East Rajasthan, South and Central Gujarat, and North Madhya Maharashtra. The North Konkan region, including Mumbai, is likely to have moderate monsoon showers during this period.

The outer peripherals of cloud bands will sweep most of Uttar Pradesh and parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada between 12-15 September. Outers of rain bands will shower the national capital also for brief periods between 14-16 September 2026. Possibly, this could be the last system extending rains to parts of Rajasthan. The process of commencement of monsoon withdrawal will roll over to the second half of September.
