Zero visibility in Gwalior, very dense fog in Amritsar

fog in AmritsarOn Sunday morning, Gwalior and Amritsar woke up to very dense fog, as the visibility in these cities dropped to nil and 50 meters, respectively. Apart from these two cities, other parts of the country reported dense to shallow fog.

Fog in East India

Varanasi continued to witness dense fog with low visibility of 300 meters. Patna too observed an increase in fog, as visibility dropped to 400 meters. Meanwhile, shallow fog was reported in Gaya and Raipur at 800 meters, Lucknow at 700 meters and Agra 500 meters.

Gorakhpur, which has been witnessing dense to very dense fog for the past several days, witnessed no fog at all on Sunday morning.

Fog in North India

Delhi woke up to clear weather with minimal fog cover, barring Palam airport, which reported thick fog as the visibility dropped to 500 meters. Model Town and Laxmi Nagar also reported shallow fog.

Fog conditions improved for Chandigarh where visibility was 500 meters today as compared to 100 meters yesterday. Up in the hills, Jammu witnessed dense fog, with visibility dropping to 200 meters.

Flight and train delays in India

About 151 trains have been affected due to poor visibility conditions across the country. Several trains to and from Patna Junction, Delhi, Kanpur and Varanasi have been running behind schedule. Kanpur Central plying between New Delhi and Kanpur is running 12 hours behind schedule. Similarly, train between New Delhi and Jabalpur is late by 14 hours, while train between Delhi and Howrah Junction by nine hours.

As visibility conditions remained good, one flight from Delhi was cancelled, 7 flights departing from Delhi were delayed and one flight arriving in Delhi is also reported to be delayed.
