Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon begins from West RajasthanThe country has entered into the last leg of the Southwest Monsoon 2016 as it begins to withdraw itself from some parts of West Rajasthan. As on September 15, withdrawal line passes through Anupgarh, Bikaner and Jaisalmer.

According to Skymet Weather, all the criteria required for retreating of Monsoon have been met. The region has been mainly dry for last two weeks, which is the first and foremost criteria for the withdrawal of Monsoon.

In addition to the this, the cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan has been now replaced with an anti-cyclone. And the third and final criteria is the changeover of winds from easterly to northwesterly, which has reduced the levels of humidity significantly.

In view of all these changes in the weather condition, the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of West Rajasthan.

Skymet Weather predicts that weather conditions remain favourable for the further withdrawal of Monsoon from some more parts of West Rajasthan.

West Rajasthan is the first post in the country to witness the retreat of the Monsoon, which also happens to be the last place for Monsoon to arrive.

The Monsoon season has ended on the surplus note for the region. As on September 15, the cumulative rainfall surplus for West Rajasthan stands at 24%.
