Moderate to heavy Monsoon rains have been lashing the Pune city since the last three to four days. With 315 mm of rains in the last four days, the city has already surpassed its monthly average rainfall of 187.2 mm. However, it is far behind from cracking the all-time record of 508.5 mm rains established in 1907 for the month of July.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Pune has recorded moderate rains to the tune of 34.6 mm. Many other cities of Madhya Maharashtra such as Kolhapur, Satara, Pune, Nashik, and Jalgaon too have witnessed heavy downpour.
According to Skymet Weather, intense rain and thundershower activities are expected to continue in Pune today as well. By tomorrow, rains will taper over Madhya Maharashtra including Pune, however, a few moderate spells cannot be ruled out.
Another surge along the West Coast is expected around August 3 or 4, wherein good Monsoon rains will lash Pune and many other areas of Madhya Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the weather will remain pleasant for next week or so and the weather will not go completely dry as occasional rains will keep making an appearance. The sky conditions would also be partly cloudy to cloudy throughout the week.
