On June 11, Mumbai received its first heavy rains for the season. Santa Cruz area received 37 mm of rainfall. Although the normal for the month of is 523.1 mm. Normally Monsoon reaches by June 10. Though rain has started but we think that it will take some more time for official announcement of onset of Monsoon.
Today also convective clouds have formed just south of Mumbai, and southern parts of the city may receive scattered rain and thundershower activity.
Now the rain is increasing over west coast of India over Konkan & Goa and Coastal Maharashtra. On and off scattered rain activity are expected to continue over Mumbai till June 16 or 17. Thereafter there will be a significant increase in the intensity of rain.
Temperatures to remain in lower 30°Cs but sultry weather conditions will continue to unsettle Mumbai for another 3-4 days before the onset of pleasant weather conditions over Mumbai.
Heavy to extremely heavy rains which lash Mumbai during the monsoon season are still are few days away. But weather will not go completely dry, scattered rain and thundershowers will continue to lash some parts of the city and suburbs.
