The residents of Northwest India have not been able to enjoy cold wintry days at all this season. Both minimums and maximums continue to be on the higher side. As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, winter chill is not in sight anytime soon for the region.
A Western Disturbance is currently over Afghanistan and North Pakistan. Due to the effect of the system, a cyclonic circulation has formed over Central Pakistan and its adjoining areas. By tomorrow, the system is likely to shift over Rajasthan.
As the circulation shifts, relatively warmer winds will blow over Northwest India from the southwest direction. These winds will result in an increase in the minimum temperatures over most parts of Northwest India including Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, West Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of West Uttar Pradesh.
Clouding is expected over Rajasthan, North Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. Also, isolated rainfall may occur over Rajasthan on January 12. As the system moves towards the east, very light rain might occur over isolated pockets of Delhi on January 13.
For the last two days, shallow fog has been observed over almost entire Northwest India. However, now due to warm weather conditions, humidity levels will also increase. Due to increased humidity levels, moderate to dense fog may occur over some pockets of Northwest India.
With the current temperature trend and an approaching Western Disturbance, cold wintry days are a distant dream for now.
