Minimum temperatures over Delhi-NCR has increased significantly by six degrees within last 48 hours. With this, winter chill has also disappeared from the national capital.
Night temperatures that have been settling around 10°C or 11°C during the last few days, was recorded at 16.5°C on Saturday morning. This was five degrees above the normal average temperature of 12.9°C.
Though winds are blowing from northwest direction but due to two successive Western Disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir, the origin of these northwesterly winds is from Central Pakistan.
As a result, these winds were not as cold as compared to the one blowing from hilly region. This has led to sharp rise in day maximums across the northwestern plains including Delhi-NCR.
These systems have given scattered rain and snow over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Now, the Western Disturbance is likely to clear away the region by tomorrow.
With this, cold northerly winds will once again start blowing from snow-capped regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. This will result in sharp fall in minimum temperatures across Delhi-NCR by 4-5 degrees November 28 onwards.
Marginal fall is also expected in the maximum temperatures and one could start witnessing the wintry chill once again.
