It seems that Winter is all set to make its onset over North India. Slowly and steadily, weather conditions are getting favourable for the commencement of the chilly season over the region.
The frequency of Western Disturbance has already increased and is likely to increase further in the coming days. According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Western Disturbance affecting the Western Himalayas since Friday evening. The system has also induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining areas of Haryana and Punjab.
In wake of these systems, dry and cool northwesterly winds have also been replaced by relatively warmer and humid south-easterlies. With this, we expect scattered snowfall over the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and light rains over the lower regions and adjoining areas of North Punjab.
Besides this, minimum temperatures across the northern plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi including West Uttar Pradesh have witnessed a marginal rise of 1-2 degrees due to these humid winds. However, after the passage of this system by November 14, normal flow of northerly winds will be restored which will be very cold as they will be traveling from snow clad mountains.
By November 14 or 15, we can feel a steep fall in the minimum temperatures leading to wintry conditions during morning and night. Weathermen predict night temperatures over Delhi may dip significantly to 9 °C early by Monday or Tuesday.
