Winters to make onset with rain and snow in Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand between November 6-8

Its the beginning of November and Winter season is all set to make onset over the hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The mild cold weather, presently witnessed during the nights and mornings, would now be replaced with intense winter chill in the coming days.

All thanks to Western Disturbances that with the beginning of November become more prominent, be it in terms of intensity, frequency or passage.

At present also, a fresh Western Disturbance is seen approaching hills of North India. It is presently marked over Northeast Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan. This is also touted to be the first active Western Disturbance of the season, which would be instrumental in bringing widespread rain and snowfall over the hilly states.

Moving in east direction, by tomorrow, the Western Disturbance would have moved North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. Thus, we would start seeing the impact of system over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand by tomorrow.

According to Skymet Weather, rain and snowfall activities would start making appearance from November 6 onward, when the effecting Western Disturbance would be completely over Jammu and Kashmir. As per weathermen, we can expect light to moderate rain over the hilly states from November 6-8. The rain activity would be at its peak on November 7, wherein we can see some intense spells. Intensity of rains would be more Jammu and Kashmir, followed by Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Snowfall would be mainly confined to the upper and middle reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Places like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Kufri, Manali and Rohtang are likely to see light to moderate snowfall. Although chances of snowfall in Uttarakhand are less but higher reaches like Badrinath and Kedarnath might see some activities.

The Western Disturbance is likely to move away from the region by November 8 and by November 9, we would see significant drop in the maximum temperatures across the hilly region. Icy cold winds would also result in steep drop in night temperatures.

Thus, slowly but steadily, winters would take entire Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand under its grip in the coming days. Not only this, winter chill would also start making its presence felt in the northwestern plains also.
