The hilly region of our country has been experiencing intermittent rains for last many days. All thanks to the passage of back to back Western Disturbances. The present Western Disturbance is now moving eastwards but we can expect few spells of rain over Jammu and Kashmir and over isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh.

Since the impact of Western Disturbance is not that strong, that is why the intensity of rains will remain light with one or two moderate spells only in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per Skymet Weather, another Western Disturbance is approaching by the evening of October 19. During that time, we can expect light rains in parts of Jammu and Kashmir and at one or two places of Uttarakhand.

The upper or the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir have been witnessing light snowfall and the plains of this region have been experiencing pleasant weather with some rain activity.

Due to these weather activities, there has been a significant drop in the day temperatures of Gulmarg and Pahalgam by 6-8 degrees. Whereas, the plains of Jammu and Kashmir have been experiencing a drop in day temperature by 2-3 degree-Celsius on account of partly cloudy sky. Talking about Gulmarg in specific, the day temperatures are in the range of 8-12 degree-Celsius and night temperature has come down to –1 degree-Celsius. Places like Manali, Kalpa and Keylong are very cold with minimums ranging between 1-4 degrees.

Winters have set in over these places and if you have any plans to visit the hills, then don’t forget to carry woolens along.

Therefore, this Dussehra weekend can be well spend over the hills, weather will not play a spoilsport.
