Winters 2019: Winters to grip Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand soon

November 1, 2019 12:50 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Entire Northwest India including the hills of North are experiencing dry weather conditions for the last many days. However, intermittent light rains have been witnessed in many parts of Jammu and Kashmir in wake of feeble Western Disturbances.

However, now a fresh Western Disturbance has approached North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir. In wake of this system scattered light rain with one or two moderate spells can be seen over Jammu and Kashmir while the upper reaches of the region might witness light snowfall activities. Along with this isolated rain can also be seen over Himachal Pradesh as well as parts of Punjab until November 3.

This Western Disturbance has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Northwest Rajasthan. Thus, light scattered rain with thundery activity might occur over parts of Rajasthan. There is a possibility that thunderstorm activities might be a sight over the north and western parts of Haryana. Amidst this, Delhi might also experience cloudy weather, but chances of rain are very bleak. The cloudy sky may lead to isolated thundery activities.

In the coming 48 hours, the pollution levels in Delhi and NCR will be in the severe category over many places wherein few places might see pollution in poor to very poor category. Thus, no relief is in sight for the coming 48 hours. While the western parts of Uttar Pradesh will continue to witness dry weather conditions.

However, November 3 onward the north westerlies will pick up the pace that would help in the dispersal of pollutants. By November 4, weather conditions over most parts of Northwest India will start clearing up and it will once again turn dry.

Although the successive Western Disturbances are very likely to approach Jammu and Kashmir and they would travel in the lower latitudes, thus impacting the parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Another Western Disturbance is expected around November 6. If we talk about the temperatures, then in wake of Western Disturbance minimums might increase marginally over the hills as well as over Punjab and Haryana. While a marginal fall in maximums can be a sight.
