As predicted by Skymet Weather, winter rains have commenced in the northern and western parts of Rajasthan. Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Sri Ganganagar have observed light rainfall activities during the last 21 hours.
The reason behind these rains can be attributed to an active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir, which has induced a Cyclonic Circulation over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan.
According to Skymet Weather, after giving light showers in West and North Rajasthan, the spread of rain would extend up to eastern districts today. The intensity will increase and isolated hailstorm activity could also be seen in some parts.
Rain and thundershowers with strong/ gusty winds and isolated hailstorm are likely in Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Chittaurgarh, Churu, Dausa, Dhaulpur, Dungarpur, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalor, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunun, Jodhpur, Karauli, Kota, Nagaur, Pali, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Sirohi, Tonk and Udaipur during the next 24 hours.
These rains would start reducing by December 13, as the affecting weather systems would shift eastwards.
By December 14, the weather activities will subside from the entire region completely. Thereafter, icy chilly winds from snow-capped Himalayas would start blowing over the northwestern plains.
In wake of these winds, winters would intensify in Rajasthan. Both day and night temperatures are expected to drop with 'moderate to dense' fog taking over the region.
