As predicted earlier, Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh and Awadh Pradesh of Uttar Pradesh experienced rain and thundershowers during the past 24hr. Hailstorm also lashed industrial city of Kanpur with heavy thundershowers accompanied with hailstorm.  Datia, Nowgong, Guna, Khajuraho, Lucknow, Kanpur, Fursatganj, Hardoi, Bahraich and Varanasi  experienced first spell of winter rains.  More weather activity is expected  till 30th Jan with short breaks in between.

An active western disturbance is marked over the northern mountains. This will be followed by yet another western disturbance on 28th Jan. An induced cyclonic circulation is also marked over Rajasthan.  Under the influence of these systems, the seasonal anticyclone has shifted far to the east over West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand.  Anticyclone over eastern parts and cyclonic circulation over the western end  has created a convergence zone across parts of Uttar Pradesh and Northern hals of Madhya Pradesh.

Both these features are drawing moist winds from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea respectively.  An upper air trough is supporting the low level features to trigger deep convection. Combined influence of these systems is resulting scattered rains and thunderstorm with hails at few places. The weather activity will continue till 30th Jan.  The spread and intensity will go mild on 26th & 27th and later reduce on 30th Jan.  28th and 29th  Jan are to be watched for extended thunderstorm, lightening and hailstorm activity .
