After a long time, an active Western Disturbance seems to be affecting the Western Himalayas and plains of North India.
The upper air system can be seen extending up to 7.6 km above the sea level while the induced cyclonic circulation is seen over North Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Punjab.
During the last 24 hours, these weather systems brought scattered fairly widespread rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

We can expect rain and thundershowers, accompanied by squally winds, at many places over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. We cannot rule out light snowfall in the higher reaches like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Batote and adjoining areas.
In the plains, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh could receive rain and hail storm over the weekend. Gradually, the rain belt will shift towards East Uttar Pradesh after 24 hours. Strong winds, gusting up to 60 to 80 kmph, will be blowing over the region.
Temperatures in the plains have been settling 4 to 5 degree Celsius above normal for the last few days.
