As reiterated by Skymet Weather, winter rains have started over several areas of Punjab on Wednesday. Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hosiarpur, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Jalandhar have been recording rain and thundershowers of varied intensity since early morning hours.
As the day progresses, the rain belt is likely to cover up more areas of Punjab and Haryana. The ongoing weather conditions can be attributed to the active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining areas of Punjab and Rajasthan.
Both the systems are likely to move gradually towards east and with this, the intensity and spread of weather activity will increase soon. In wake of this, Delhi and Haryana have already been witnessing partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions.
We can expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy showers over many parts of Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday. Some areas could also witness one or two spell of hailstorm. Meanwhile, Delhi could see some scattered light showers which would commence during the late evening.
