With the commencement of February, winter in India has also entered into its last phase. With this, weather conditions have also started showing some changes.
To begin with, the winter chill is all set to abate from most parts of the country. Since the beginning of February, temperatures have been settling in the comfortable zone over Northwest India and adjoining areas, central parts of the country.
However, winter chill can be still observed during the early morning hours. This is due to the cold northwesterly winds coming straight from snow-clad hills of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
But now, another active Western Disturbance is all set to affect the Western Himalayas by February 3. The approaching system has already induced a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining Rajasthan.
As a result, winds have started to change the direction. In fact, western parts of Rajasthan are already experiencing southerly winds from the Arabian Sea. These winds are relatively warm and humid in nature and thus, minimum temperatures are increasing over this region.
In another 24 to 48 hours, this cyclonic circulation will get more marked and move eastwards and will start affecting weather over Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana.
Skymet Weather predicts minimum temperatures to increase significantly by at least 3-4 degrees.
By February 4, day maximums will also rise and may reach in mid-20s over Delhi-NCR. Thus, we can say that next 2-3 days are going to much warmer and winter chill is likely to abate.
