The weather situation Uttar Pradesh and Bihar seem not to be improving as of now as thick fog layer continues to envelop parts of both the states. The winter chill continues to shiver both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as the maximums continue to drop.
The reason for the continuous cold weather conditions and prevalent cold day conditions over both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar can be associated with the foggy weather that has been prevalent in these states.
As per Skymet Weather, apart from low temperatures, the wind speed over these regions is light and the humidity level is high. All these factors are conducive to fog formation over both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Most parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are recording the daytime high at almost half of their monthly average.

Furthermore, these factors are not letting the fog to lift which is why it is sustaining for a longer duration thereby resulting in cold day conditions to prevail at many places. Moreover, the situation is likely to persist for the next 24 hours.

However, the fog and cold day conditions over West Uttar Pradesh have improved and are likely to abate shortly. Though it will maintain its grip over parts of East Uttar Pradesh and North Bihar for the next 24 hours. On the contrary, the southern parts of Bihar and West Uttar Pradesh will see a marginal improvement.
In the last 24 hours also, many parts of East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have recorded low maximums with high humidity levels which are depicted in the table below:
Thus, the districts such as Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Ballia, Bahraich, Rampur, and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh while Gopalganj, Fursatganj, Araria, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Supaul, Bhagalpur and Purnea in Bihar are expected to continue to reel under cold day conditions for 24 hours more.
The weathermen at Skymet Weather explains that humidity is an invisible yet plays an essential role in not allowing the cold day conditions to abate from the region.
