Amid the past many days, the city of Joy has been reeling under dry and slightly cold weather conditions. This is not something unfamiliar as Kolkata relishes pleasant weather conditions with a no rain show throughout the months of December and January. In fact, January is considered to be the coldest month for the city.

The average monthly maximum temperature of Kolkata is 25°C, while the minimum temperature is 14°C for the same period. Rains are also almost negligible during this stretch.
If we consider the current weather state, the night temperature has dropped to 11.1°C at the Alipore Observatory in Kolkata, which is the lowest minimum recorded since 2013. Meanwhile, Dum Dum Airport has recorded 9.9°C during the similar time frame.
So, as of now, both maximum and minimum temperatures have been settling below the normal levels by two to three degrees. Due to the proximity of the coast, Gangetic West Bengal are experiencing chilly nights.

Weathermen at Skymet Weather do not expect much change in temperature profile. Thus, maximums may mount by one or two notches, but minimums will continue to stay in the range of 10-11°C. In consequence of this, we can say that cold weather conditions will last over Kolkata for some more time.
Further, the presence of a significant weather system is not foreseen, so the city will continue with dry and pleasant weather conditions. Occurrences of fog, that too only shallow and in isolated chunks are anticipated over the city.
