Delhiites woke up to chilly Wednesday morning with minimum temperature plummeting significantly to 4°C. This was three degrees below the normal average night temperature of 7.6°C.
People were seen covered with heavy woolens as they shivered under the extreme cold conditions. This wintry chill has been missing over Delhi-NCR, in fact from the entire northern plains this season.
Further, we expect mercury to plunge further and hover around 3°C during the next two days. Though day will be sunny with bright sunshine but feel effect chilly winds will keep the weather cold.
According to Skymet Weather, the drop in temperature is due to change in the wind pattern from warm and humid easterlies to dry and cold northwesterlies.
Winds are extremely chilly in nature as they are blowing directly from Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh that have recorded heavy snowfall during the last few days.
These winds are now reaching up to northern plains including Delhi-NCR. Being dry in nature, it has also reduced the level of humidity significantly in the atmosphere. All these factors increase the chances of further drop in night temperatures across Delhi NCR by one or two degrees.
Let us have a look at the minimum temperatures recorded on Wednesday morning across the city.
