Winter chill grips Delhi and NCR

December 23, 2022 1:49 PM |

Minimum temperature of Delhi dropped to 5.3 degrees Celsius today, 3 degree below the normal levels. Parts of Delhi recorded cold day like conditions. Maximum temperature of Mungeshpur in Delhi was just 16.5 which was five degrees below normal.

Cold winds from northwest are blowing across Northwest India including Delhi and NCR. Due to increased moisture at lower tropospheric levels, light winds and low temperature, dense fog has engulfed many parts of Delhi.

The speed of winds may increase after 24 hours, leading to decrease in fog density. We do not expect any significant change in minimum temperature for at least next two to three days. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain below normal.

Cold day conditions will continue over parts of Delhi and NCR. Two back-to-back Western Disturbances are expected to approach Western Himalayas. The first will be on December 26 and 27 and second will be around December 30. But we do not expect any significant impact of these Western disturbances over Northern Plains including Delhi and NCR in terms of rainfall.
