The hills of North India have not witnessed any rainfall for a long period of time. Not only this, while mercury has started to drop marking the onset of winter over many parts, snowfall has yet not made an appearance. Meanwhile, the temperature in Leh has gone below zero degrees Celsius. Mercury levels have also dropped in Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Srinagar, Kullu, and Dharamsala, leading to cool mornings and nights.

According to the current scenario, there is no seasonal stir in the hilly states of northern India. There is no sign of rain until the end of this week. However, the sage of the decline in temperature will continue even further. At present, the sky will remain clear in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and the weather will remain dry. This is because there is no effective Western disturbance across the region.

By the end of this week, the minimum temperature in Manali, Kalpa, and Kelong will be around 2-3 degrees Celsius. Even in Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar, the night temperature will be around 2-3 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, mercury in Katra, Dharamsala, Kullu, and Shimla may be recorded between 8 and 12 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in Almora, Pithoragarh, Joshimath, Nainital, Mussoorie, and Tehri will be recorded between 5 and 10 degrees around normal.

The temperature in the three hilly states will gradually fall further. This has led to the cold winter mornings and night in most parts. While the sky will be clear during the day, bright sunshine will remain. It is the most favorable time to take a trip to the hills as the weather is perfect for enjoying the serene beauty of the region. However, if you want to travel to the hills to see the snowfall, then this is not the appropriate time.
