Will the rains bid farewell to Madhya Pradesh now

Monsoon has come to an end with the end of the last Monsoon month. However, Madhya Pradesh doesn’t seem to be bidding farewell to rains anytime soon.

Madhya Pradesh has had mixed luck during this Monsoon season. The state has got an abundance of rainfall. While West Madhya Pradesh ended with a large excess of 61%, East Madhya Pradesh remained surplus by 25%. These rains have triggered widespread floods leading to large scale damage to life and property. Also, farmers were the worst hit and crops in multiple districts suffered immense damage.

During the last 24 hours also, good rains were witnessed over parts of Madhya Pradesh. While Seoni received heavy rains of 65 mm, Shajapur 19 mm, Ratlam 18 mm, Khandwa 12 mm, Bhopal 11 mm, Dhar 6 and Indore received 1 mm. Light rains occurred over Betul, Chindwara, Guna, Tikamgarh and Sidhi.

As a Well Marked Low Pressure Area has developed over Central India thus, we expect good rains to continue over Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Jhabua, Ujjain, Rajgarh, Una and Sheopur.

Rain activities will start reducing from tomorrow onward as the Well Marked Low Pressure Area will degenerate rapidly. Therefore, light rains will be seen over most parts. The Well Marked Low Pressure will then take a westward track while traveling towards Northeast Madhya Pradesh as a Cyclonic Circulation. Therefore, scattered light to moderate rains are possible over Northeast Madhya Pradesh. Places like Chhatarpur, Satna, Rewa, Panna and Sidhi may get moderate spells.

As a relief, this might be the last good spell of rains over Madhya Pradesh. Now we don’t expect any significant rain activities until the Withdrawal if Monsoon commences around October 10 from the western parts of the states.

As no heavy rains are being forecast, thus waterlogging will now recede. Life might soon come back to normal over the state.
