The Lok Sabha election is round the corner and the weather is definitely going to play its part as far as the voter turnout is concerned. Voting will be cast in 7 different phases spread across 39 days, starting April 11 and ending May 19. These months are going to be difficult for the voters who are going to witness day temperatures touching 40 degrees Celsius or beyond when they go out to vote.

Here’s is all you need to know about the weather of your state while you are out casting your precious vote-

The states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal will see elections in 7 phases and are up for  some really hot conditions.

Delhi and NCR will see voting on different days. While NCR cities like Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad and Gurgaon are voting today i.e. April 11, elections in the national capital Delhi will be held on May 12. The weather in NCR during election will definitely be better and comfortable compared to Delhi that will be voting in the thick of summers. Day temperature touching 40 degrees Celsius in Delhi during voting can not be ruled out.

States like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in Central India will see elections during the second half of April. A severe heatwave condition is on cards for the people of these places going out to vote. Great care and precaution wold be required from heatwave during voting as chances of heat strokes are always high.

Rajasthan will experience voting during the fifth and sixth phase in the month of May. Thus, severe heat is likely to affect this dry state.

Punjab and Haryana too will go out to vote in May, a month when intense heat is at  its peak. Extreme precaution like and care need to be taken during this period. Covering your head with scarf or towel, keeping a bottle of water with yourself are some of the precautions you should take during this extremely hot condition.

The hill states of Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will go out to vote on the same time. Here, however, the weather will remain pleasant. There shouldn't be much to worry for those going out to vote.

In South India, the elections will thankfully get over by the end of April. So the people will be spared from the extreme heat of May.

There aren't any chances of extreme heat conditions in the northeastern States. The weather will however remain highly humid here.
