The weather became favourable for widespread rainfall for the first time in the winter of 2020-21, when light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places from the northern Indian mountains to the plains states. Also, there was hail in many places in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Northwest Madhya Pradesh.
The Western Disturbance near Jammu and Kashmir is moving ahead. This system was not very effective but it gave light rain at some places on the mountains. Now an active western disturbance has reached North Pakistan which will reach Jammu and Kashmir from January 3 and affect the weather for the next two-three days.
There is already a cyclonic circulation over South Western parts of Rajasthan. Along with this, a trough is formed from northeastern parts of Arabian Sea to Rajasthan. In addition, a cyclonic circulation is over Chhattisgarh and adjoining areas. Due to the effect of these systems, humid winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are reaching the plains states of North India. The weather in North India has changed due to the combined effect of all these systems.
The rain is going to increase from Punjab, Haryana, to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, facing the cold wave in the plain states of the country. It is expected that between January 3 and January 5, there will be a dense cloud in all these states and there will be a light to moderate rain with strong rain at 1-2 places in many places.
There will be chances of hail in many places including Bharatpur, Alwar, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Hisar, Sirsa, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Sonipat, Panipat, Ambala, Karnal, Patiala, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Faridkot, Delhi-NCR, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Saharanpur.
Due to change in weather, minimum temperature has increased in all these areas and some relief will be available during the next 3 days at night and morning due to the outbreak of severe cold wave. But due to cloudy day and rain, the effect of sunlight will not reach, due to which the maximum temperature will be below 16 degrees Celsius in many cities. Cold wave condition can be formed in these parts. That is, a cold-weather outbreak can start in the day.
Similar conditions will continue till January 7, after which all the states will have to bear the wrath of cold winds from the mountains of North India again. From the second week of January, the minimum temperature will once again fall drastically due to the effect of icy winds, which will cause a severe cold wave.
