With pre-Monsoon activity on the rise in most parts of India, only the hilly states had been left out. But now, with the Western Disturbance affecting the region, widespread rain has been observed in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Light to moderate widespread rain has been recorded in the hilly states of the country in the last 24 hours. Rain will continue on a lighter note for the next two days in these parts. The day temperatures, which were earlier settling on the higher side, are now expected to experience a gradual drop.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 23.4°C, which is expected to drop as more rain is likely in the region. Also, Gulmarg (16.6 °C) and Pahalgam (22 °C) observed maximums that were 3 degrees above normal.
Rain in Jammu and Kashmir
In the last 24 hours, Srinagar received 10.1 mm rain, Banihal (11.4 mm), Batote (14.6 mm), Bhaderwah (6 mm), Pahalgam (14 mm), and Gulmarg (8 mm).
Rain in Himachal Pradesh
In the last 24 hours, from 8.30 am on Monday, Bilaspur recorded 11 mm rain, Chamba (2 mm), Hamirpur (2 mm), Kullu and Manali (1 mm), Solan (5 mm), Sunder Nagar (4 mm), and Una (24.4 mm).
Rain in Uttarakhand
In the last 24 hours, Uttarkashi observed 8 mm rain, Tehri (16.4 mm), Pantnagar (5.1 mm), Mukteshwar (9.2 mm), and Pithoragarh (2 mm).
During the summer season, especially in the month of May, tourists throng the hilly states to get some respite from the scorching summer heat in the plains. But with rain affecting the aforementioned areas, tourism in the region may get adversely affected. Inclement weather may dampen the spirit of those who are planning a trip to the hills in the next two days or so.
