Fairly widespread rains have been witnessed in peninsular India. The states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have also observed rainfall activity. In the last 24 hours or so, the region has received a good amount of rainfall. A cyclonic circulation is currently marked over the region and adjoining areas. Moist southerly winds brought moisture over the region which has resulted in this rain activity.
On April 13, several parts of Telangana recorded rain in double-digits. Vikarabad recorded 65.4 mm rain, Hyderabad 61.4 mm, Nizamabad 33.2, Hanamkonda 18.2 mm, and Tandur 42 mm rain. Whereas on April 14, Telangana’s Kamareddy recorded 110.4 mm rain, Hyderabad 24.5 mm, Nizamabad 16.2 mm, Tandur 39.6 mm, and Hanamkonda 15.1 mm.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, widespread rains were observed in different parts of the state. On April 13, Anantapur recorded 41 mm rain, Satyavedu 73.4 mm rain, and Tirupati 12.4 mm rain. Whereas on April 14, Anantapur recorded 23.0 mm rain, Satyavedu 140.4 mm rain, and Kurnool 31.9 mm rain.
Due to rainfall activity in the region, temperatures have dropped. In Telangana, on April 13, Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 29.5°C and a minimum of 16.7°C. The maximum in the city was 9°C below normal whereas the minimum was 8°C below normal. Similarly in Andhra Pradesh, on April 13, the city of Anantapur recorded a maximum of 33.7°C (which is 5°C below normal) and a minimum of 20.2°C (which is 6°C below normal). This trend was observed in most places across the region.
The weather activity in these parts is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. Thereafter, rain will ease out from Telangana. The rainfall activity will continue in Andhra Pradesh for one more day before finally moving out of the state.
