Widespread moderate rain to continue in central India for next 24hrs

Rain will continue in central India as the low pressure system continues to affect this part of the country. Rain will be mainly light to moderate with heavy in isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, Marathwada, Telangana and Chhattisgarh. Gujarat will also continue to have rain for the next 24 to 48hrs due to the same system.

So far the rainfall figures in central India show that rain between 30 to 40mm was recorded in the last 24hours. The places that recorded rainfall were Jabalpur-34 mm, Nagpur-23 mm; Indore-31 mm and Aurangabad 54mm. While yesterday rain in Bhopal was recorded only in traces, today and tomorrow it is expected to increase and be between 20 to 30mm.

This system of low which is weaker this time, also gave moderate rain at north Andhra, Andhra coast and at Orissa. Hyderabad recorded 18mm of rain, Kurnool-37mm, Vijaywada-35, Balasore-15mm and Cuttack- 10mm. Forecasts show, rain will continue in Andhra Pradesh, and Orissa but will decrease and become light now.

This system though weak in nature is expected to move northwards now, merge with the axis of monsoon trough after 24 to 48 hours and give heavy rain over almost entire north and northwest India, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana on the 19th, 20th and 21st of July. Although Rajasthan will continue to be mainly dry.

As of now the low pressure system lies at east Madhya Pradesh adjoining south Chhattisgarh.
