Since last one week there hasn’t been any rain in Delhi and its adjoining areas. For the last 48 hours, the winds have also been blowing from the southwest direction in Delhi and Haryana. These southwesterly winds have been travelling from west and central Rajasthan, where mild dust storms and thunder activities were taking place.
The loose dust from the region got carried along with the southwesterly winds and became suspended in the higher levels of the atmosphere in Delhi.
Now again the winds have changed to southeasterlies due to a trough running from northwest Haryana to central Madhya Pradesh. The speed of the winds are light at the moment, which is not allowing the suspended dust particles to clear away.
The wind direction is again expected to change to northwesterlies in next 24 to 36 hours, which will help in clearing the haze by blowing away the suspended dust particles.
