Chamba is one small and often underrated town located in the midst of Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh. It takes a 12-hour road trip from Delhi to reach this serene beauty. Chamba has a lot to offer to tourist looking to have it all- be it history, jaw dropping locations, food or stuff to shop.

The valley was once the capital of an ancient kingdom and now the Maharaja’s city has it all to boast- royalty, fashion and the culture that has grown here over the time. The town also welcomes people looking for spiritual peace as it houses numerous temples and meditation spots. If you want to trek around- hike a little and go dig a tent! Summers (March to June)

The summer season in the city begins in March and ends in June. The maximum during this period is warm with temperature ranging between 14°C to 30°C. This is when the weather is at its best over here when a lot of tourists flock in to get a window to the other world from the scorching heat back in the Plains.

Monsoon (July to October)

Monsoon starts in July and extends up to October. These months are marked by decent amounts of rainfall. Monsoon is considered the best season for the ones seeking to picture it all when the landscapes are washed off their dirt and are all green and lush- basically, at their best.

Winter (November to February)

The cold winter season in Chamba starts in November and ends in February. The months of January and February experience good amounts of snowfall. The minimum average temperature during this time settles around 4° C. You can travel here if you want to witness snowfall. However, we can’t always promise about the condition of the roads.

Famous spots in Chamba

Find a view to the valley and the lake at Chamera Spot. Trek over to Manimahesh Lake for a spiritual tour, hop on to Lakshmi Narayan Temple or find a glimpse of the beautiful Rang Mahal.

Things to Do

Adventure seekers can enjoy numerous exciting activities such as horse riding, trekking and mountain climbing. Since, the region is situated close to the Ravi River junction, going rafting is an option. If you are in Chamba, do remember to drive down to Khajjiar Lake located close by and enjoy its scenic beauty.

One can also enjoy horse riding on a track around this lake. As far as sightseeing goes, the huge grassy field of Chaugan and the temples of Laxmi Narayan and Hari Rai are worth visiting.
