The intensity and frequency of Western disturbances remained on a lower side during the month of November and the first half of December. In fact, no significant Western disturbance approached Western Himalayas during month of November and weather remained dry.
The first intense Western disturbance was between December 5 and 6 when hills of Western Himalayas witnessed widespread moderate to heavy snowfall. Since then, on and off Western disturbances are approaching but they are feeble.
A fresh Western disturbance is expected to approach Jammu and Kashmir by December 22. There may be two Western disturbances in quick succession between December 22 and 26. Rain and snow are expected over Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttarakhand.
An induced cyclonic circulation over Northern Plains may give some rain over Punjab, Haryana, north Rajasthan as well as over Delhi and NCR during that period.
