March 26, 2015 3:29 PM |

rain in marchRegular and prolonged downpours that marked the beginning of March are expected to return as the spring season approaches towards its end. With heavy rainfall accompanied by snow in hills, March 2015 is likely to receive rain that will even surpass old rain records.

As March approaches towards its end, final spell of rain from 28th march to 31st March is going to give residents of Delhi, Punjab and Haryana some relief from the recent rise in day temperatures.

As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, the rain and snow from 28th – 31st March will be attributed to western disturbance and the induced cyclonic circulation. The western disturbance across Jammu and Kashmir is expected to give moderate rainfall and snow over hilly state of Jammu and Kashmir and other foothills. The induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and Gujarat, once it begins to interact with the western disturbance, is expected to give rain over North Rajasthan, Gujarat and plains of North India that incudes Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

Once the intensity of rain reduces on the 31st, the wet weather will have a spillover into April with light rain observed on 1st -2nd April in plains of North India.

Due to rain, both the day and night temperatures are likely to change marginally. While maximum temperatures that are above normal by 4-5°C at the moment will dip marginally. Minimum temperatures will also rise marginally.
