Western Disturbance to move away, fresh one likely around weekend

The Western Disturbance has given scattered rains over North India. Activities have been more over the hills and foothills of Punjab. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Gulmarg recorded 27 mm of rains, Jammu 27 mm, Srinagar 17 mm, Qazi Gund 17 mm, Amritsar 17 mm, Una 16 mm, Patiala 23 mm, Ludhiana 14 mm, and Dharamsala 7 mm.

The system is moving eastward. Today, light activities will be seen over the northern parts of the mountains. Gradually, it will vacate the region and we can expect clearance from tomorrow.

However, this clearance will not last for long as another Western Disturbance will approach the hills of North India starting October 13th evening.

Weather activities will begin on October 14th. Thereafter, between October 15-17, rains will not only be seen over the hills but also cover the plains including parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and even Delhi. The most amount of the spread in rain can be seen on the 16th and 17th. Clearance will start October 18th onward for the plains.
